Four Months...

I took you to the doctor today for your 4 month checkup.  I dreaded the shots.  After 3 kids, it really doesn't get any easier watching the nurse inflict this pain on you.  I don't like the way you look into my eyes the whole time, wondering why I'm allowing this to happen, and why I am letting you remain in your helplessness.  You screamed so hard...briefly, but so hard that you held your breath for a few moments and your face was as red as the sun.  You are such a happy baby.  I seldom see you get this upset, so it makes it extra difficult.  Fortunately after a few moments of mommy comfort, you were your sweet self again.  And to think, in another two months, we get to do this all over again.
Ellie dislikes going to the doctor so much, that I have to keep reminding her that this appointment is for you, not her.  And when the nurse comes in, she quickly exclaims, "It's for Mollie!" And when the doctor comes in, she immediately announces again "It's Mollie's doctor!", just to be sure we all know that this appointment is for you to endure, not her.  She even got to reap the benefits of your post-appointment sucker/sticker combo that you are still too young for.  Some sisters just have all the luck.
At four months you are a healthy 15 pounds, and you are 25 inches long.  You love to sleep on your tummy now that you can roll over.  You are also starting to scoot forward on your tummy like a little inchworm.  It's so adorable seeing you put so much effort into attempted mobility.  Your hands are your favorite toy, and you love to put them in your mouth.  You love to put my hands in your mouth too, and lately this creates a river of drool.
Mollie, you are so special to me, and oh how you are growing up way too fast.  Happy four months, my little love bug!

Quiet, Please...

Yesterday Mason was doing his homework when I decided to turn on some music quietly and play with the girls.  Mason accused us of being too loud several times before taking matters into his own hands.  After becoming frustrated, this is the solution he came up with (look closely at his ear):
That's right folks, if you are ever having trouble concentrating due to all the noises around you, try putting scotch tape inside and over your ears.  According to Mason, it really works.

How To Make A Cake (If You Are Two)...

First, gingerly dabble at the batter in hopes that it will wisk itself:

If that doesn't work, just smile and look pretty:
Next, after mom pours the batter into the pan, sneak a few licks...assuming no one is watching:
And finally, deny that you ever snuck any licks. (There's no evidence to prove anything, Mommy):

Warm Weekend...

It was great weather to be outside this weekend!  It's funny how we can go from snow and ice, to barefoot in 70 degrees, and then back to freezing again in only a matter of 3 days.  But in between our cold snaps, we decided to enjoy as much of the milder weather as we could.  This weekend we took a trip to the park, a family walk around the neighborhood, and an afternoon of playing in the backyard.  Even though I enjoy the cooler weather, it was nice to enjoy a little warmth outside with Matthew and the kids.

Snow Day...

Last Friday Mason was excited to wake up to the news that school was canceled due to snow and ice.  We didn't get as much as the weatherman predicted...I'd guess it was only about an inch.  But for a kid who only gets to see it once every year or two, one inch is enough to cause great excitement!  In the four years we've lived here, we've gotten at least 3 snows (last year's snow even fell on the day I found out I was pregnant with Mollie), so I'd say those are pretty good odds for a Texan!

Why I Love Having a Kindergartener...

Reason #389:  Because in kindergarten, a little boy begins to write all by himself without asking Momma for spelling help.

Here he was working on his class roster to make Valentines for the upcoming class Valentine party.  (In case you can't fully translate, it says "Johnson Elementary School, Dual Language Class, Kindergarten".)  He is really enjoying his class.  It's so neat to see him learning to read and write in Spanish as he is learning to read and write in  English too.  The other day he said to me: "Momma, I can write in Spanish as well as I can in English! (Which is probably true because he's pretty much a beginner in both.)  But then he followed that up by saying: "But you know, with all this Spanish, sometimes I think I'm starting to forget English!"  He is such a hoot!
